Chinese baidu antivirus remove once and for all

Chinese antivirus Baidu: remove the bug!

Many times I warned acquaintances about the program to fight viruses Baidu, which can be installed along with the necessary software. But people keep stepping on the same rake. After that, there are a lot of problems with complete uninstallation. Baidu Chinese antivirus is realistic to uninstall, despite the strong roots it takes in the system. I will now tell you how to do it.

Baidu antivirus

Once again, I recommend that you carefully review each step of the free software installation, along with the installation of this “gift from China”. If, nevertheless, did not watch, and on the desktop appeared a green shield (shortcut), then you will have to go through all the points of my instructions.

A little about antivirus

What kind of a beast is this and what does it do? Although the developers of this software product call it an antivirus, its behavior convinces me of the opposite. The utility consumes a lot of system resources and “eats” network traffic. The interface with hieroglyphs is totally incomprehensible.

Over time, users begin to notice that their browsers change the initial page, independently activated plug-ins, pop-up ads on various sites. All this is very annoying and slows down the work.

Normal uninstallation often fails. After restarting the PC, the malicious utility starts up again. The thing is that when you connect to the Internet, it re-downloads and automatically installs the “missing” components. This can go on for a very long time, unless one day you decide to take drastic measures.

If surgical intervention is unavoidable…

Before you start uninstalling, you need to make sure that Baidu is the cause of all the troubles and misfortunes. Here are the main signs of the appearance of this software:

How to recognize that you are hooked on Baidu

If all of this is fully present on your PC, then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and start cleaning.

Step #1. Uninstalling the process

  • Run Task Manager Using Ctrl + Esc + Shift. There is another way (more usual for most users) – it is the combination Ctrl, Alt, Del. After that a menu will open with “Run…” item. But the first way is shorter.
Running the task manager
  • In the image above you can clearly see that several malicious processes are running. Their number may vary (from 2 to infinity). Everything depends on the version of the “virus”.
  • Our goal is to disable them all! To do this simply: left click on the name and then click on “End”. And so we do with each one.
How to delete malicious processes
  • The system will want to verify that what you are doing is correct. Confirm without any remorse:
Process stopping confirmation window

But stopping a process is not always successful. What if a Baidu protection mechanism kicks in? Apparently, the “Chinese” are not going to give up without a fight. You will see this error message:

Process stopping access error window

What to do in this situation? Do you want to know? You’ll find the answer in the next step-by-step instruction.

Step #2. Deleting all locations

We will have to destroy all the folders where Baidu is lodged. Let me say right away that there is no exact list of all such locations, since the software manages to locate itself in different directories each time. For some users I found two folders, for others I found more than five. So, it is better to use the standard search.

  • Type “Baidu” in the field (on Windows 10 it looks different, but the point doesn’t change):
Windows search to find Baidu folders
  • Specify a place to search and see the following results:
  • It is necessary to delete all the folders found. If a ban message appears, just give the folder another name and then try to remove again.

Important point! Some elements of malicious software may be hidden. To “unhide” them, you should first go to “Folder Options” (via Control Panel) and on the “View” tab set the switch to the desired position.

Disable hidden folder view window

But it’s not all smooth sailing here either. The next time you’re cleaning up your Baidu traces, you might get an access error that requires admin rights.

How to solve the problem? There are three simple and quick ways.

  1. Log in under a different account. Click “Start”, then “Shut down” and select “Change user”.
  2. Start the PC in Safe Mode (using F8 while booting). I wrote about this method in one of my articles.
  3. If that didn’t work, turn off the computer by pressing the power button, holding it for about ten seconds. Then turn it back on. This should bring up a menu with a security selection.

When the system boots, you should find all the folders you found earlier and destroy them completely. There should be no problems.

Restart the laptop in normal mode and move on to the next step.

Step #3 Clean the autorun

Now it’s time to use the services of third-party software – CCleaner. I have mentioned this utility many times in my articles.

  • Download the program From the official CCleaner website or from us.
  • Install, do not forget to specify the Russian language.
  • Run.
CCleaner installation process
  • On the left, select the “Tools” tab, and a little to the right in the list click on “Autoloader”.
  • Select the unnecessary item and delete from the list:

  • Flip through the top tabs using the black arrows until you get to the “Context Menu”, where you should also remove all references to Baidu:

  • Restart the system. After all these actions, the virus should disappear from the computer.

But I still recommend you to “finish” it in one more way. It won’t take you much time and will guarantee a 100% positive result!

Step #4 Clean the registry

These measures are not mandatory. But since you got to this point in the instructions, you should follow these steps. I recommend following the description carefully so as not to harm your system. So, let’s proceed.

  • Open the utility regedit by typing its name in the console “Run” (Win + R) or via “Search”:
How to open the regedit utility

Don’t be confused by an interface that doesn’t look like Windows 10. The essence, as I said earlier, does not change from this.

  • The top menu contains the “Edit” section. Run the “Find” command and type in the value “baidu”.
Search for all Baidu registry entries
  • The results will be displayed on the right, which we will delete one by one, as shown in the screenshot below:
Deleting Baidu registry entries
  • Note that you have to restart the search after each cleanup operation. I agree, this is a very painstaking work. Takes a lot of time. But this is the only way you can finally get rid of traces of annoying software.

That’s all! We can congratulate you on the successful completion. I’m sure the result exceeded your expectations. Or did it? If you have any problems along the way, such as “this item is not deleted” or “this is not the settings on my PC”, then leave your comments on this article and we’ll figure it out together.
