Las Vegas, however, the first city in the world with a commercial Loop system

The Boring Company, owned by Elon Musk, is not dead. It hasn’t been talked about much lately, but it’s growing and soon the world will see the first results of the concept of moving transportation underground.

A corporation last May got the go-ahead and massive funding to build a transportation system of the future called Loop in Las Vegas. The authorities saw huge potential in this form of transportation after the first tests of the system in Los Angeles. Recall that it was in the City of Angels that a 2-kilometer experimental section was built.

The authorities of the City of Gambling want to use the benefits of the Loop system to connect the most important parts of the city with each other. The two tunnels, leading in both directions, will be 1600 meters long and with three stations will connect the casino street and the airport with the convention center. The choice was no coincidence; the center is owned by the Las Vegas Tourism Agency and receives more than a million visitors a year.

Las Vegas authorities want to use the capacity of special Loop vehicles, which can carry up to 16 people on board, and platforms for cars in the tunnels. The Loop is expected to eventually carry up to 4400 passengers per hour. The cost of building the entire infrastructure of the travel of the future is expected to cost 50 million dollars and become a landmark of the city not only in the United States, but also around the world. The first tourists will be able to use the Loop in early 2021.

Although the popularization of such an innovative form of transport in the world is the song of the future, you have to start somewhere and here Elon Musk deserves a big applause for his determination in realizing his innovative visions, which are to improve the quality of life for millions of people living on our planet.

Elon Musk is confident that a network of such underground tunnels will eliminate the problem of traffic jams in metropolitan areas. For now, people can test the first of them, which is about 2 kilometers long and is located in Los Angeles. It seems that such a length of the tunnel does not allow for efficient communication between distant parts of the metropolis, but we must remember that the project is still in the experimental phase. Despite this fact, everyone can take a ride through the tunnel inside the all-electric Model X and not waste time standing in traffic between 105 Freeway and Hawthorne Municipal Airport.

The Loop system performs admirably. The car is picked up from the street by a special elevator and then lowered inside a tunnel with a diameter of 3.4 meters. Once inside the tunnel, special bumpers/stabilizers equipped with wheels are attached to the wheels. For now, the car moves in the tunnel, between SpaceX’s headquarters and the O’Leary station, at a speed of about 60 km/h (soon it will be 130 km/h, and eventually 240 km/h). Interestingly, it uses its own propulsion system. On the entire route we can count on fast access to the global network via wi-fi.

The Boring Company has already received an order to build the Loop system not only from the authorities of Los Angeles, but also Chicago. In both cases, underground tunnels will connect the city center with international airports and will be the fastest and cheapest form of transportation for residents. Musk wants the price of a ride to be no more than $1.

Interestingly, the billionaire quietly launched the first branch of his company The Boring Company in China last August. The Hyperloop superhigh-speed train and the Loop transportation system tunnels will make travel more convenient for millions of people living their daily lives in ever-accelerating metropolises. Every year, more and more new cars are sold in China. In 2030, about 30 million of them are expected to be sold annually. Road infrastructure will not be able to accommodate them all, so they will have to be moved underground.

It has recently been reported that The Boring Company will help build the successor to the Large Hadron Collider at the CERN institute located near Geneva, Switzerland (). The government of the Middle Kingdom has also announced the construction of a similar device, but even larger than the European one. Perhaps also there the billionaire will offer his help ().
