WinToHDD download and how to use to create a flash drive

Creating multiboot flash drive with WinToHDD

Hello. I have told you many times about different ways to install Windows from a USB flash drive. Today, I would like to offer the WinToHDD program to download to create a bootable media. This option is one of the best if you want to hang several versions of Windows on one removable drive.

Why this software?

There are many competitors, including Rufus .but if this way is a bit confusing for newbies, then using WinToHDD Rus is much easier and more convenient. I am sure that not everyone shares my opinion, but I will try to tell you about creating a multi-boot flash drive by the example of this application in the most understandable way.

Well, let’s begin!

Creating a USB key

Be sure to copy important data from your removable drives, as the steps below will delete all files as a result of formatting.

I am sure you will succeed the first time!

  • First, you will have to download the software from the official website:

  • The installation process requires no further explanation. Just run the installer, immediately select the Russian language. Then accept the terms of the license agreement and click “Next” several times.
  • A program shortcut will appear on the desktop.
  • When the main window opens, you will see the following picture:

  • Select the item circled in red on the screenshot. Despite the Russian interface, “Multi-Installation USB” for some reason could not be translated.
  • In the new window, choose your flash drive from the list. Please note that its volume must be at least 16 Gb, otherwise an error message will be displayed.
  • Now you have to specify the partitions for the system and the boot. In our situation, it will be the same item:

  • After clicking on “Next”, the program will copy some files. Once the process is finished, WinToHDD can be closed.
  • Now put the Windows images you need in ISO format on the flash drive. All editions except XP and earlier are supported. Here is an example – I put two Windows images (64 and 32 bit):

That’s it. You can safely operate the resulting media as a multiboot for installation, recovery and other actions, which you need. Download the utility at the link at the end of the article, if you have not done it yet.

How to use it

I will tell you how to use WinToHDD to do a clean installation of the operating system. After startup (don’t forget to set the required boot order in the BIOS) the screen will show bit capacity selection:

Select the bit mode you need. In the new window pay attention to the field “Image File” – here you should find a suitable ISO image. Once you have done it, you will see a list of available firmware versions below:

Choose an ISO image

Determined with option? Click “Next”! At this point you need to specify on which disk or partition to install.

Choose where to install OS

If your PC uses BIOS (+ Legacy) – you have to convert disk into MBR format, and use NTFS partitions. In case of UEFI you have to convert to GPT, and the system partition to FAT32. The last point is shown in the above screen.

At this point. You just have to wait for the OS files to be copied to the hard disk, and then you need to do the initial setup, as with any Windows installation.

You can download WinToHdd for free by following this link:
