Leaks about the specifications and capabilities of the new Xiaomi band appeared in the network already at the end of January, but only now the manufacturer decided to officially present it.
Mi Band is not only one of the biggest hits in Xiaomi’s offer, but also one of the most popular accessories of this type on the market in general, and the manufacturer uses it well. Every year we get a new generation, which sometimes brings bigger, other times smaller changes, but they all have one thing in common… users are still eager to use them. We can safely assume that with Mi Band 6 will be the same, especially since the new model will introduce the functionality already expected last year. And we are talking, of course, about the SpO2 sensor, with the help of which we can check the saturation – the saturation of blood with oxygen is defined as the fifth vital parameter, next to pulse, body temperature, blood pressure and respiratory rate, which during the coronavirus pandemic has gained additional significance.
Information about it appeared already in the model number 5, but eventually the manufacturer gave up the idea and we will get it only in the newest version. As standard we can also count on heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, cycles and help in coping with stress by means of breathing exercises. As with every next generation, Xiaomi has also added more fitness modes and we now have 30 engaging workout types to choose from. Users can now enjoy more indoor workouts (stretching and HIIT), try professional workouts (gymnastics), and have fun with dance or zumba workouts. What’s more, the device automatically detects six popular activities and records their statistics, even if you don’t turn them on yourself.
It is worth noting, however, that although in leaks there were mentions of a built-in GPS module that would allow a more precise measurement of speed and distance traveled and allow you to leave the smartphone at home, they turned out to be untrue – so either they were so from the beginning, or Xiaomi gave up on the idea. However, the information about a larger screen, which will thus offer more capabilities, has proven true. Indeed, the new Mi Smart Band 6 has a 1.56-inch touchscreen display (326 pixels) and about 50% more space for information than its predecessor.
This means that viewing key statistics and daily notifications, is much easier and clearer. As for the battery, on the other hand, we can count on up to 14 days of work and charging via a convenient port, as in the previous version, which no longer requires removing the capsule from the band – just put the magnetic tip of the charging cable on the back. Mi Band 6 is also certified water resistant up to 5 ATM, so we can swim, dive and shower with it. As always, the device will be available in several color versions and its European price is 44.99 EUR.
